The clients of this large (by London standards) front garden wanted to draw attention away from the expanse of car parking space with an exciting and colourful planting scheme that changed with the seasons. The garden is sunny and there was the potential to include a range of flowering plants. It was also important to have seasonal interest - the garden is on show throughout the year. The design uses curving lines of box to give structure and to contrast with the more ephemeral planting of grasses, alliums. aquilegia and irises. Evergreen such as hebes and pittosporum form punctuation points and the two small trees give height to this planting design. The client tells me that passers by are always stopping to admire the garden.
