Catherine and Alex of DesignWild Associates were commissioned to design this garden behind a traditional home in Hampstead. The design makes links between the traditional materials of the original house and the contemporary design, by Cullinan Studios, of the new extension. The clients were keen that the garden be a place for children to play whilst also looking beautiful throughout the year - the glass walls of the extension meant that the garden was visible at all times.

The design uses traditional bricks for the walls of the raised beds and western red cedar for the planters. There is a large area of lawn and space for a sunken trampoline. Planting in the side garden has a contemporary feel with the inclusion of olive trees and lavender whilst in the main garden the new planting complements the existing apple tree and mature shrubs.
