When Catherine first visited the Wiltshire garden the house was in the early stages of construction. In order to create a new floor beneath ground level at the rear there was the need to accomodate a 3 metre level change. Working closely with the client, Catherine created an informal meadow to link the very contemporary architecture of the house and with the rural landscape beyond. The design takes the form of a wildflower meadow amphitheatre. Curves of railway sleepers create vertical elements and red-stemmed dogwood provide winter interest.

The photos show work in progress and in the first year.
